The Outside Track were formed in 2005 at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick, Ireland. They have developed into one of the most exciting new bands on the traditional music scene. Four members of the group are students or graduates of the academy.

With a truly diverse line up they combine music from their different cultures to form a distinct and dynamic musical sound. Flute, harp, fiddle, guitar, accordion and vocals in expressive energetic arrangements that deliver traditional music with a modern twist.
Their song repertoire encompasses both classic ballads and contemporary songwriting combining the tradition with fresh new material. Five part harmony singing sits alongside sparkling new instrumental sets.
Norah Rendell from Vancouver began her professional music career as a recorder player with the McGill Baroque Orchestra & The Pacific Baroque Orchestra. A passion for traditional Irish music via the whistle and the flute drew Norah to Ireland. Well known for her rich soulful singing Norah is a founding member of a capella world music group ‘The No Shit Shirley’s’ and the Canadian bands, ‘Celia’ and Celtic trio ‘The Maenads’.

Lauren MacColl from the Black Isle Peninsula in the Highlands of Scotland is a wonderful fiddle player, composer and singer. Lauren (BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winner 2005) studied fiddle and Scots/Gaelic Song at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Dance in Glasgow, Lauren has been playing the fiddle for ten years, having learned originally through the summer schools of the Gaelic Fèisean movement in Ross-shire.
Ailie Robertson from Edinburgh was brought up with Scottish music; she also has a passion for Irish music. Allie has some of the most impressive credentials in the Scottish harp world.
A five time National Mod Gold Medallist, she was also first prize winner at the inaugural London Harp Competition. She played in the Scottish Harp Orchestra, Na Clarasairean for many years, performing with them at The World Harp Congress in Seattle and also Prague.
Alan Jordan is from Claremorris Co Mayo. Alan plays guitar whistles and flute drawing on a wide variety of musical influences including a strong background in Jazz.
Fiona Black is the accordion player in the band and comes from Evanton in the Highlands of Scotland. She studied at The National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music.
